Understanding the Benefits of Radiant Floor Heating

comfort3Radiant floor heating has really stood the test of time, so it is no surprise that this type of heating has multiple advantages. A basic form of heated floors was used as long ago as ancient Rome. Europeans have used a type of radiant heated floors for many decades as well. There are many reasons why there are so many enthusiastic customers who believe in radiant floor heat:

1) Energy efficiency. With most forced air heat systems, hot air it is pushed through vents, but as the air rises, the floors remain cold while the area nearest the ceilings – the area where no one is living – is warmer. With electric radiant heat, there’s less of a temperature difference between floors and the ceiling. In fact, with floor heat, temperature variance is only 2° to 4° between the ceiling and floor. This allows people to turn down the heat to a lower setting while actually enjoying greater comfort. According to The American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), electric radiant heat floors allow customers to set the thermostat up to 6° to 8° cooler than with a traditional forced air heating system while maintaining a comfortable temperature level. Turning down your thermostat by 6°, however, has a significant impact on your energy efficiency. By turning down your thermostat that much, you will be enjoying energy savings and using less energy as well.

2) Less moisture loss. Many forced air heating systems and even baseboard heaters require humidification or humidifiers, because they dry the air out. Electric floor heating does not dry out air in the same degree, and therefore does not require you to buy a humidifier. This can save you money on the use of humidifiers and other such accessories.

3) Greater warmth and comfort. Many people who have traditional heating systems spend additional money on spot heaters, blankets, electric blankets, and other heating solutions to deal with cold floors, drafts, and other heating issues that arise with traditional heat systems. Customers with electric floor heat, however, can usually save on these additional costs. This is simply because electric radiant floor heating does not usually require accessories or additional heating systems. A system such as Suntouch floor heating does not produce drafts and keeps you warmer and more comfortable, so that you can save the frustration and the money that you would spend on alternate heating solutions.

4) A smaller carbon footprint. If you’re concerned about your carbon footprint, heated floor systems, such as Suntouch floors, can help. Suntouch floor mats and other types of heated floors use less energy than traditional heating systems and do not rely on fossil fuels in order to keep you warm. Plus, as more and more municipalities find ecologically-friendly ways to produce electricity, heated floors will become an even more environmentally conscious choice.

5) Greater comfort. Being able to step out of bed in the morning and place your feet on a warm surface is one of the many pleasures of Suntouch heated floors. With Suntouch mats, you will enjoy comfortable warmth on all your floors. You be with walk around barefoot on your hard surface floors and enjoy greater comfort and warmth than you ever thought possible.
